IND vs AUS: Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah face racial abuse at SCG, Team India lodge complaint

The Indian team management on Saturday lodged a complaint after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were racially abused from a section of crowd on the third day of the ongoing Test between India and Australia. As per a report in Cricbuzz the incident took place over the second and third day of the match.

The incident came to light towards the end of day's play, as skipper Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin along with other senior members discussed the matter with the onfield umpires Paul Wilson and Paul Reiffel.

The discussion took place for almost five minutes as players were seen discussing the matter with the umpires and security officials at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

"BCCI lodged a formal complaint with ICC match referee David Boon about two of their players Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj being abused by a drunk spectator," a Cricket Board source told PTI.

India vs South Africa: Rohit Sharma Breaks Multiple Records With Batting Masterclass In Vizag

India vs South Africa: Rohit Sharma Breaks Multiple Records With Batting Masterclass In Vizag
Rohit Sharma after hitting a century

Rohit Sharma is now averaging in excess of 100 in Test matches at home.

Rohit Sharma produced a batting masterclass in Vizag as he became the first batsman to register 100 plus scores in his first Test as an opening batsman on Day 4.

Rohit Sharma broke multiple records as he smashed the South Africa bowling attack to all parts of the ground on Saturday.

Rohit, after scoring 176 runs in the first innings, went onto play a knock of 127 off 149 deliveries in the second innings. Rohit Sharma's innings helped India's lead to go past 300. Average went past 100: Rohit Sharma, with his second hundred in Vizag, took his average past 100 in home Tests.

Rohit had equaled Don Bradman's average of 98.22 at home in the longest format when he hit his fourth Test hundred on Wednesday. Rohit Sharma now has four centuries and six half-centuries in Tests in India. Most sixes in a Test match:

Rohit Sharma smashed 13 sixes against South Africa in Vizag.

Rohit surpassed Wasim Akram's long-standing record of 12 sixes in a Test match. Akram had hit 12 maximums against Zimbabwe back in 1996. Centuries in both innings as an opener: Rohit Sharma became the only batsman in Test cricket's history to smash centuries in both innings in his first outing as an opener. Stumped on both occasions: While the 32-year-old had an exceptional game with the bat, Rohit registered a record that he won't be proud of. Rohit Sharma was out stumped in both innings off Keshav Maharaj. He became the only Indian batsman to be dismissed stumped in both innings.

Rohit Sharma Should Get More Chances In Test Cricket : Ajinkya Rahane

Rohit Sharma, who failed to make India's playing XI during the Test series against the West Indies, has been getting a lot of support to open in the upcoming home series against South Africa. India's Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is the latest to come out in Rohit's support saying that the team management should try him out as an opener in the three-match series. Rahane said that it is "hard" to see a talented player like Rohit sitting out. "I don't know yet whether Rohit will open the innings. If he does, I will be happy for him. I said in West Indies also, it is hard to see a special talent like Rohit sitting out," Rahane said on Thursday. Rohit Sharma, who has scored three hundred in 27 Tests, is not considered a traditional Test player but Rahane thinks that Rohit will do well in the longest format of the game if he gets ample opportunities. "He has worked so hard and if he gets an opportunity, I am sure, he will do well," Rahane added. "We all know the quality he has - special talent. Test cricket is all about mindset and ODI cricket, you can just go out there and back yourself. In Test cricket, sometimes if two bowlers are bowling good spells, you need to respect that and come out strong and play your game after that," he said. Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly and batting coach Vikram Rathour also came out in Rohit's support to open for India. "At the moment, I am not too sure what the playing eleven for the first Test will be but if Rohit does well and is opening, why not," Rathour had said. "I had suggested earlier about trying Rohit Sharma as an opener in Test cricket and I still believe that he needs to be given an opportunity because he is too good a player to be left out in the cold," Ganguly wrote in his column for The Times of India. As far as the series is concerned, opener KL Rahul was dropped after his dismal show in the West Indies and the selectors included young Shubman Gill in the squad for South Africa series. Mayank Agarwal, who has three fifty-plus scores in four Tests, has already cemented his spot as one of the openers. The first Test between India and South Africa will begin in Vizag on Wednesday.
